Training Services

Deaf intermediaries work closely with Sign Language Interpreters to ensure genuine access to the Criminal Justice System for D/deaf people.

I provide professional development training to help Interpreters understand the role of the Intermediary and how best to work with Intermediaries to achieve an effective service for our clients.

Learning objectives include:
  • The evidence base for intermediaries
  • The vulnerable witness journey through the justice system
  • The role and responsibilities of a Deaf Intermediary
  • The areas in which Deaf Intermediaries can work
  • The cultural and linguistic benefits of using a Deaf Intermediary
  • Practical advice for working with a Deaf Intermediary
I offer a three hour course which is an introduction to intermediary work
I also offer a six hour course which allows for extensive exploration of the work of the intermediary and effective working practices with an intermediary.

If you’d like to know more about my training services or to discuss booking a course, contact me today.
